JONATHAN DEDECKER: INFINITY LAND

Marvin Gardens is pleased to announce the opening of two concurrent solo exhibitions on July 20th. Jonathan DeDecker will occupy the gallery’s main space, showing 5 new large mixed media works. Matija Bobicic will occupy the gallery’s second exhibition room, showing a selection of new paintings. This will be the first solo exhibition in New York City for both of the artists.

Jonathan DeDecker

Born in 1992 in Tucson, Arizona, Jonathan DeDecker received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received his Master of Fine Arts at Tyler School of Art, in Philadelphia, PA. In 2014, DeDecker participated in Michelle Grabner’s Poor Farm Experiment summer school residency program, and was an artist in residence in the Soap Factory program in 2016.

Recent group exhibitions include “How High” at Left Field Gallery, “Condition of Place” at Woodmere Art Museum, and “Retro-Vertigo” at Waiting Room Gallery. Recent two person and solo exhibitions include “Sunset Pointe” at Temple Contemporary, “Unidentified” at Lawton Gallery, “Paranoid Time” at Kitchen Table Gallery, and “Windmilling” at Space 1026. DeDecker currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Matija Bobicic

Born in Maribor, Slovenia in 1987, Matija Bobicic received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Faculty of Education in Maribor in 2016. There he studied under the mentorship of Oto Rimele, having previously studied under Ludvik Pandur. In his youth, Bobicic participated in several local art programs receiving early recognition for his work. Since receiving his BFA, Bobicic has participated in a number of group shows.

Recent solo shows include “Paths and Collisions” at Galerija RIGO in Novigrad, Croatia, and “Piss of Art” at the Maistrova Residency. Bobicic has shown in group exhibitions at such venues as Ravnikar Gallery in Ljubljana, Dobra Vaga Gallery, Druga Gallery, and at Gallery Zuccato in Poreč, Croatia.
