Artists & Recipes: Curated by Abby Lloyd

8 September - 6 October 2024

Marvin Gardens is pleased to present Artists & Recipes curated by Abby Lloyd. The exhibition is located in the indoor/outdoor extension of Marvin Garden, R&R, at 15-48 Decatur Street, Ridgewood, NY 11385. Showcasing 40 works by 36 original artists from the cookbook, the exhibition is hung salon style in the main gallery accompanied by video and sculptural works in the annex. There will be a giant potluck at the opening as well as performance by the Iconic NY performer, John Jazzajilo.

Note from the Curator:

In April 2020, a month after my mom passed away and the world went into lockdown, I created Artists & Recipes, a free PDF cookbook featuring over 40 artists. Inspired by a communal recipe book from my elementary school class, I invited artist friends to contribute a recipe and an artwork. Artists & Recipes brings together a wide range of artists, from Sunday painters to those with well-established careers, spanning nearly 60 years in age.

Now, for the first time since 2020, despite the obstacles of life, many of the artists who participated in the cookbook are coming together in person. The show Artists & Recipes will feature a work of their choice and a dish to share in a giant potluck. It’s a way to reconnect and reflect on what we’ve been through these past four years.

Artists & Recipes is available for free online and in print at www.artistsandrecipes.com
